Our first taste of regional action tonight, and it was pretty tasty. We still have several guys out of the line up, but also got a few back. Coming back to the mat were Crankshaw, back at 130. We also welcomed Reeves back at 215. Overall we win both duals, without question, a better team at this time of the year. Crankshaw had two wins, and said the shoulder feels fine, we really want him to stay healthy. Reeves also had two wins, both pins to move on to 8-0.
The highlight of the night for me, besides the nachos and bbq, was getting to see a few first victories. As a parent the best two victories I can remember, are the first win/jv, and the first varsity win. Tonight we saw Blake Green at 112 wrestle very well to get his first varsity win. At 171, Taylor Pullen gets a huge win to match his thighs, with a pin. I predicted the next one at heavyweight, with Tay Beasley getting a varsity pin in his first year on the mat. A lot of team effort tonight for everyone really put us way in front of these two teams. We saw the machine/Higgins go 2-0 with a major decision and a pin, wrestling hard and fast as always. Mathis at heavyweight, has the fastest 7 second pin in history, not even breaking a sweat.
We have the CRWA this weekend at Pacelli High School in Columbus. A big tournament that will have a lot of good wrestling to watch. Don't forget next week we have county at our place, we want and need a huge crowd to support this team.
